Application and Admissions System
TCP’s overall school capacity is based upon the school’s charter set by the Arizona State Board for Charter Schools in accordance with A.R.S. § 15-184(A). TCP enrollment is based upon a lottery system, then waiting lists (based on the date and time the enrollment form was received) once capacity is reached. Eligibility for enrollment is not based upon academic ability, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, income level, disability, English proficiency or athletic ability in accordance to A.R.S. § 15-184(F). Capacity for each program, class and grade level is reviewed on an annual basis based on enrollment projections and therefor capacity in certain areas may be reached before overall capacity is reached.
Freshmen and 7th grade (beginning 2024) applications will be accepted starting on the date designated on our school calendar of a student’s 8th grade year for freshman or 6th grade year for 7th graders (beginning 2024).
The incoming freshman and seventh (beginning 2024) grader lottery drawings will be held in October and February with a third drawing possible if availability arises. (see the calendar for exact dates).
If selected in a lottery, submit the registration enrollment packet with all documents by the deadline on the notification letter. If a student is not drawn in any lottery, they will be placed on the waiting list according to the date on the Enrollment Application for Admissions.
Enrollment for grades 7th-8th and 10th-12th comes from a waiting list. When an opening occurs, a group of students from that grade level waiting list is called. The first to submit a completed registration enrollment packet with all required documentation, that needs the classes in which there is space, is accepted.
Siblings of pupils already enrolled in the charter school and children and grandchildren of staff and Board Members can receive automatic enrollment if registration is received before the 1st lottery in accordance with A.R.S. §§ 15-184 (B), (C) and (D). After this time, siblings may be treated like any other new registrant.
